Following her stand out performance in”Ex Machina” and popularity in Hollywood at the moment with roles in “Burnt,” “The Man from UNCLE,” and “The Danish Girl,” actress Alicia Vikander is now being sought to take on the lead role in “The Girl in the Spider’s Web”. The role, that of socially awkward hacker Lisbeth Salander.
This follows on from the report earlier that Sony is planning on a reboot of the franchise, with director David Fincher and stars Daniel Craig and Rooney Mara not returning.
The reboot will use David Lagercrantz’s fourth book “The Girl in the Spider’s Web” as its starting off point. With plans to go back and adpat the second and third novels, “The Girl Who Played with Fire” and “The Girl who played Kicked the Hornets Nest”.
Steven Knight (“Locke,” “Eastern Promises”) is in negotiations to write the adaptation of this years best -seller. The studio aims to produce the film on considerably less than the $90 million budget of 2011s “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo”.
Producers Scott Rudin and Amy Pascal are reportedly massive fans of Vikander. The actress is certainly positive creating waves at the moment, I urge you to go watch her performance in “Ex-Machina” if you haven’t already.
