Mattel and Spolipsist Film are teaming to turn “Dino-Riders” into a live-action movie franchise. It is hoped the franchise could rival Paramounts transformers series according to a report on The Tracking Board.

Dino-Riders is based around a futuristic war,  in which the evolved human race known as the Valorians try to save the galaxy from intergalactic warlord Krulos and his army of mixed species Rulons.

In an effort to escape the Rulon onslaught the Valorians travel back to prehistoric Earth. Once on Earth they use their psychic abilities to convince the dinosaurs to help them fight the Rulons. On the other side of the spectrum the Rulon’s use machinery to enslave dinosaurs to fight for them .

Dino-Riders came out in 1988 as  an animated series only last one season and 14 episodes, but has became a fan favourite.

The tone the producers are wishing to strike is more family friendly than the Transformers movies, the project is currently looking for the right scribes to take on the project.
