Variety Reports that WWE Studios with Great Point Media will develop a biopic on George Raymond Wagner otherwise known as “Gorgeous George”. Josh Gad and his partner Ryan Dixon will write the script.

The Bipoic will chronicle the life and career of professional wrestler and sports entertainer Wagner. Wagner was credited for inspiring the flamboyance of many who came after such as Muhammad Ali and James Brown.

Wagner is the man many believe brought sports into the TV age:

“Gorgeous George was a true pioneer in television, Josh is a true talent and we are thrilled to see him and Ryan tackle such a groundbreaking story.”

Said Michael Luisi, President of WWE Studios. Gad recently worked with Disney on their live-action adaptation of “Beauty and the Beast” along with a star studded cast including Luke Evans, Emma Watson, Emma Thomson and  Ewan McGregor. Gad is set to star as the late Roger Ebert when production begins in January on “Russ and Roger Go Beyond”.
