The Hollywood Reporter reports that Kate Winslet will play iconic photographer Elizabeth “Lee” Miller for Hopscotch Features.
Miller had a full life, becoming a model as a teen, then the muse and lover to artist Man Ray. She would move in circles that included Pablo Picasso and Jean Cocteau. Later she would become an art photographer and then during World War II would become a pre-eminent war photographer for Vogue.
The movie will be based on the biography “The lives of Lee Miller” written by Miller’s own son Antony Penrose. No writer or director are attached yet and the movie still doesn’t have a title.
Winslet, the six time Oscar nominee, winning for “The Reader” in 2008 can next be seen in Danny Boyles “Steve Jobs” when that expands and goes on wide release on October 23rd.
