Luke Evans (Dracula Untold) is teaming up with his “Immortals” co-star Henry Cavill (Man of Steel) for the film “Sand Castle”. The pair will also be joined by Nicholas Hoult (Warm Bodies) for the Iraq 2003-set war drama.
“Sand Castle” will be helmed by Fernando Coimbra (Narcos) and is based on Chris Roessner’s own experiences as a machine gunner in the Sunni Triangle.
The plot will revolve around solider Matt Ocre (Hoult) who is part of a squad of U.S. soldiers that must try to repair a broken water system in the Iraqi village of Baqubah.
The soldiers must convince the hostile villagers that they are part of the solution and not the problem, their very survival will depend on it.
Mark Gordon, Justin Nappi and Ben Pugh will produce with Voltage Pictures controlling international sales. The film will be presented at the American Film Market Next month. Treehouse (All is Lost) is financing the project.
“Sand Castle” is set to start filming on November the 2nd.
