Michael Stuhlbarg (“A Serious Man”, “Steve Jobs”) is in negotiations to join the cast in the upcoming Marvel Studios film “Doctor Strange”.
The film follows the Dr. Stephen Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) a selfish super-talented neurosurgeon who loses the use of his hands after a car accident. In an effort to heal himself he travels to the Himalayas in search of the Ancient One where he then learns the mystic arts, becoming the Sorcerer Supreme.
Stuhlbarg is set to play Doctor Nicodemus West, the surgeon who tried and failed to heal Strange’s hands, guilt ridden he follows Strange across the globe in an effort to help him fix his hands and subsequently to the Ancient one where he undergoes his own mystical training.
Scott Derrickson (“Sinister”) will direct with Rachel McAdams, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Tilda Swinton and Mads Mikkelsen also starring. Filming will begin in London in September with film set to open in November next year.
