AMC’s “The Wallking dead” is no stranger to violence, blood and gore, but one aspect the show has never been laced with is profanity.
Jeffrey Dean morgan is set to play the role of Negan in the series, a character from the comics who’s signature traits include obscene amounts of swearing. So will AMC allow the character to step off the pages and swear like a sailor, Morgan spoke with EW and confirmed the characters bad mouth will be still be there, but there maybe some limitations due to the network:
“We’re going to push AMC – the plan is to push them as far as they can because it’s who Negan is. He uses some colorful language. And I use some colorful language. And reading the comic, it’s important. So we’ll see where that lands. It’s our intention that this character is going to leap off the pages of the comic book. It’s very important that that’s who it is. Some of the characters there’s much more leeway, but Negan is a guy that you want to keep as true as possible, and that would be how I want to play him as well.”
Because AMC is on basic cable, there are limitations into how much bad language the network can get away with. In the past shows like “Breaking Bad” have got away with the occasional f-bomb. How far will the network allow “The Walking Dead” to push its guidelines? We’ll fond out when Morgan as Negan, makes his first appearance in the season finale next april.
