The martial arts action movie “Birth of the Dragon” has cast a Bruce Lee, Philip Ng will play the Hong Kong film legend for Groundswell Productions and Kylin Films.

The film recreates the San Francisco set 1965 challenge from Lee to fight kung fu master Wong Jack Man from the point of view of young martial arts student Steve McKee. The fight famously caused Lee to reinvented himself and his style of kung fu which led to his worldwide fame.

George Nolfi directs with Billy Magnussen portraying Steve McKee, Yu Xia playing Wong Jack Man, Jinging Qu playsMcKee’s love interest and Jin Xing will portray a crime boss.

“Ali” and “Nixon” writers Christopher Wilkinson and Stephen J. Rivele wrote the script, martial arts choreographer Corey Yuen will design the action scenes.

Filming began yesterday in Vancouver and would last through January 24, 2016.
