Variety reports that Rebecca Ferguson is in early negotiations to star in the Tomas Alfredson (Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy) directed “The Snowman” at Working Title and Universal. Written by Soren Sveistrup and starring Michael Fassbender as Oslo Detective Harry Hole.

The film revolves around the loose canon detective who has been featured in 10 of Jo Nesbo’s novels. Hole becomes involved in a case when a missing  woman’s pink scarf appears wrapped around a snowman.

The studio is hoping this could potentially be a franchise starter much like the Alex Cross films with Morgan Freeman in the lead and most recently Tyler Perry.

Author Jo Nesbo will executive producing alongside Martin Scorsese was once attached to direct . Ferguson is a rising star, with her performance in “Mission: Impossible – Rouge Nation” and already landing the coveted lead in the adaptation of the best seller “The Girl on the Train” also starring emily Blunt.
